My favorite author is Penelope Douglas and her book Bully, in the Fall Away series, blew me away. I wanted to redesign the existing book cover and put my own twist on it.

For the background, I inserted specific staples from the book. The story takes place in a small town that has a lot of abandoned buildings and farmland. Then, I focused on the characters, reading the book again and referencing their physical characteristics. Tate, the female protagonist, is blond and generally wears comfort wear as well as jeans and converse shoes. Jared, the love interest, is brown haired with it done up, and has the generic bad boy look to him. The book described his car in a lot of detail, so I wanted to include that on the cover. It was a Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca that had red accents. On the back of the book, I included the tree in Tate's backyard. She and Jared have a lot of history around that tree so I thought it would be a fun reference for the readers.
