Tropical Escape
Commission

Programs Used: Adobe Photoshop
The inspiration behind this piece comes from my dad. His father had this painting that he created with acrylics. It was filled with palm trees that rose into a saturated sunset, with grass that transformed into wispy florals. I was commissioned to recreate his father's painting in my own unique style.
I took great pride in doing this project because it gave me the chance to really study my grandfather's painting style, and recreate it using digital tools. One challenge was getting the painted feel to translate into the virtual medium. To produce that effect, I used a range of brushes to give a paint stippling effect for the grass and the florals. My unique touch inside this tropical escape is the umbrella with the chair sitting beside it, as if someone was sitting and watching the sunset. (It's probably my grandfather.)
